Rajiv Gandhi Home for the Handicapped (RGHH), located at Saram in
Pondicherry, started its activities in 1996. The prime objective is to provide food, clothing and shelter for the deserted, orphaned, handicapped young girls in society irrespective of caste, creed, color and religion. RGHH helps each student to live an independent life and make them contributing members of the society. Training is also given for tailoring, embroidery, doll making and basket weaving. Presently, the organization is planning to start an industry in making ‘Agarbathi’ (incense sticks), candles and chalk to provide jobs for handicapped girls.
