Raj Mahal Palace




Raj Mahal Palace, the erstwhile residence of the Rajas of Orchha, is situated at Orchha, in Tikamgarh District, Madhya Pradesh. This magnificent palace was built by Madhukar Shah, the deeply religious predecessor of Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo.

The plain exteriors of the palace are crowned by chhatries (towers) and its interiors boast of stairways exquisite murals depicting various religious themes.

The 16th century Jehangir Mahal, situated in the vicinity, is worth visiting.

Jhansi Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead (16 km).
