Raisen Fort




Raisen Fort is an ancient sandstone fort, located at Raisen in Raisen District of Madhya Pradesh. It is about 23 km south of Sanchi.

Built in 1200 AD, this Malwa fort was under the early Hindu rulers of the area and the Rajputs in the 15th century.

Placed on a sandstone hill, at the foot of which settles the town, the fort consists of temples, cannons, three palaces, 40 wells and a large tank. Exquisite display of ancient paintings can be seen in the caves around the fort.

Bhopal Airport (47 km) is the nearest airport. Ranchi Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
