Q S T and R Block Kayals, situated in
Kuttanad, evoke the memories of the famous dikes of Holland. Extensive areas of land reclaimed from the backwaters here are protected by means of embankments and are used for cultivation and habitation. A boat ride through the canals surrounding these Kayals (backwaters), at an altitude of 5-10 ft below sea level, provides an enchanting experience.
These regions can be easily accessed by boat from Alappuzha; around 1.30 hours journey by motor boat 30 minutes by speedboat.
