Purasawalkam

Purasawalkam is a teeming residential and commercial area situated just after Egmore and near the Poonamallee High Road to the north, in downtown Chennai. Close proximity with schools, shopping malls, recreation centers and hospitals coupled with easy access to all major centers in the city made it a favored residential hub. Anna Nagar is south-west and Kilpauk is south.

Once a quiet and charming residential locale in Chennai, Purasawalkam now is a major commercial center that is second only to Pondy Bazaar in T Nagar in the shopper’s priority list. The place is also famous as the home town of the legendary singers M S Subbulakshmi and D K Pattammal and the famous writer R K Narayan.

Abirami Cini Complex, Prince Towers – the biggest shopping mall in the city – Hotel Melody and Sri Gangadeeswarar Temple are the major landmarks of Purasawalkam.

Purasawalkam is less than a 10 minute drive from Chennai Egmore Railway Station. Chennai International Airport is around 20 km south-west.
