Pura Mahadev Temple

Pura Mahadev Temple, on the main Baghpat-Meerut Highway, is 5 km north of Baloni, on the banks of the Hindan River. The presiding deity here is Lord Shiva. As per legends, this temple was built by Lord Parashuram, and hence it was earlier known as Shiv Puri.

A major draw is a fourteen day festival, which is held here during the Hindu months of Shravan (August) and Falgun. Every year, thousands of devotees assemble here to pay their homage to Lord Shiva by pouring the water of the holy Ganges on the Shivling within the temple.

The temple is 30 km from Baghpat and 36 km from Meerut.
