Punnathura




Punnathura is a beautiful and serene village 18 km east of Kottayam. This small village lies on the banks of the Meenachil River, one of the major rivers in Kottayam District which flows into the Arabian Sea. Pannagam Thodu is a brook flowing through this village. The village is blessed with beautiful and vast paddy fields. Punnathura is also known as the land of bricks.

The village holds a few educational institutions, churches and temples. Similar to other villages in Kottayam, Punnathura also has acres of rubber plantations. The major festivals of the village, in addition to the national festivals, are the church and temple festivals.
