Punnamada

Punnamada is a charming village near the banks of Vembanad Lake, in Alappuzha District. This scenic hamlet assumes prominence as being the venue of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race, held annually in the Punnamada Lake, on the second Saturday of August. Punnamada is about 5 km from the district headquarters of Alappuzha.

Punnamada presents a beautiful picture of nature’s splendor at its best - a journey in the country-made boats through the lake would provide awe-inspiring sights of paddy fields and stretches of coconut palm groves.

The historic site of Punnapra, the enamouring Nedumudi and Alappuzha Beach constitute short excursions from Punnamada.

Punnamada Back Water Resort and Kumarakom Lake Resort are the holiday resorts nearby.

Nearest airport is at Kochi. Alappuzha Railway Station serves Punnamada.
