Established in 1962, Punjabi University is located on Patiala Chandigarh road, about 7 km from the
Patiala. Its prime objective is to promote the language of the Punjabi people. It offers courses in humanities, sciences, fine arts, computer science, bio-technology and space physics. This multi-faceted and multi-faculty educational institution holds over fifty five teaching and research departments. The university has a well-equipped library and health center. Facilities for games such as hockey, football, cricket, basketball, volleyball and atheletics are provided. Hostel accommodation is available for about 2000 students.
