Pragpur, India’s first heritage village lies in the Dhauladhar mountain ranges of Kangra valley, Himachal Pradesh. This beautiful village holds the ancient well preserved architecture. The famous Kangra School of painting has its base here in this village. The cobbled streets, ornamental village tank, and mud plastered and slate roofed houses are some of the features of the village. The village water-tank is the center of every activity. It is ideal for eco-tourism, which is being promoted with the involvement of the local community. There are orchards which produce some of the seasonal fruits such as citrus fruits, lemons and mangoes. The land is adorned with colourful flowers during spring. Fun-filled activities such as angling and river sports are possible in this quaint village.
