Bikaner Cultural Center and Museum

Prachina, the Bikaner Cultural Center and Museum, a traditional art gallery, is situated inside the Junagarh Fort in Bikaner, Rajasthan. Prachina is a young institution, founded in the year 2000. It houses the family portraits of the former rulers. Poshaks or the clothing of the ladies of the royal family displayed here are the last remnants of the local styles and workmanship. A room in the museum is devoted to colonial style furniture and the famed Bikaner Jail durries and carpets. A gallery is devoted to early photographs of the Bikaner State. The same gallery also treasures hand-painted miniature portraits of the rajahs of Bikaner. A library is also being set up here. The visitors are allowed a taste of Rajasthani cuisine at the newly established cafeteria in the complex.

Prachina is committed to the development of a cultural center which is expected to be a platform for folk performing arts and craft practices of Bikaner. The gallery aims to develop and revive the folk performing arts and handicrafts of the Marwar region and its oral tradition.

Junagarh is the nearest railway station and Keshod, 40 km from Junagarh, the nearest airport.
