The Poonjar Palace located here is a testimony to the reign of the erstwhile kingdom of Poonjar. Another place of importance is the Meenakshi Sundareswarar temple, which is an exact replica of the famous Meenakshi Temple in Madurai. The Sastha Temple, located here, is famous for the rare Chuttuvilakku (row of lamps) engraved on its stonewalls.
