Pookot Lake

Pookot Lake, 2,100 meters above sea level, is located 3 km south of Vythiri, in Wayanad District of Kerala. This fascinating natural fresh water lake is brimmed with evergreen forests and rolling hills. The Panamaram rivulet, one of the main tributaries of the Kabani River, originates from the Pookot Lake.

Tall trees and thick bushes along the path round the lake provide a serene and calm atmosphere. Boating at this exotic lake is a wonderful experience. A children’s park, a handicrafts and spices emporium and a fresh water aquarium are the other tourist facilities. Best time to visit here is from August to May.

Pookot Lake can be approached from Kozhikode, 63 km south-west.
