Ponneth Bhagavathy Temple




Ponneth Bhagavathy Temple, managed by the Ponneth Madom, is an ancient shrine located in Ernakulam, the nerve center of Kochi city. It is at a distance of three kilometers from Ernakulam Junction Railway Station.

The presiding deity is here is Goddess Bala Bhathra. Lord Shiva, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesh, Dharma Shastha (Lord Ayyappa), Brahma Rakshas, Nagaraja-Nagayakshi, Vellaam Bhagavathy (Para Devatha) and Ghandakarnan are also worshipped.

The annual Thalappoli Mahotsav held here in the month of Makara (January-February) is a major draw. Thousands of people come from far-off places to join this festival.

Ponneth Bhagavathy Temple is about 30 km south of Cochin International Airport. Cochin Port is about 10 km away.
