Poha is a common and healthy breakfast dish, very popular in Maharashtra. Poha is flattened or beaten cooked rice. It is usually prepared in two variations, using potatoes or chopped onions, flavored with curry leaves and chopped green chillies. Every household usually has their own variation of this dish depending on the tastes of family members and available ingredients. It tastes good when it is garnished with freshly grated coconut. Poha Dosa and Maharashtrian Chivda are other dishes made with Poha.
