Pir Matsyendranath

Pir Matsyendranath is located on the banks of Shipra River in Ujjain District of Madhya Pradesh.

The place is associated with Matsyendranath, a great Shaivite leader of the Natha sect. Since Muslims as well as the followers of the Natha sect call their saints 'pir', this ancient site is respected by both Hindus and Muslims.

Pir Matsyendranath, which abounds in natural beauty, heralds much archaeological significance as well. There were many antiquities, which date back to 7 and 6 BC, discovered during the excavations.

The Bhartrihari Caves and the Gadkalika Temple are the nearby interesting sites.
