This beautiful temple is situated on a decorated plinth. The sanctum of the temple has life size sculptures of Mahishasuramardini flanked by Kubera, Ganesh and various other manifestations of the mother goddess such as Kshemandari and Gajalakshmi. Thirty pillars are seen in the large sabha mandapam or assembly hall. The carvings on these pillars are exquisite, probably belonging to the 10th century.

Osiyan is about 55 km north of Jodhpur. Osiyan Railway Station is a major railhead on the Jodhpur-Jaisalmer rail route.
