Pimpalvandi lies on the National Highway 50, about 11 km north-east of Narayangaon, in Pune District. The place is very near to the district’s border with Ahmednagar District - Bota in Ahmednagar is just 13 km from Pimpalvandi. Pune - the district headquarters – is 74 km south.

The world's most powerful meter wave radio telescope, the Giant Meter-Wave Radio Telescope, placed at Khodad, is a must-visit destination for a space-science buff. The ancient Khodad Fort and Bhimashankar Wildlife Sanctuary are other tourist places, within easy access from Pimpalvandi.

Pune Lohegaon Airport and Wadgaon Railway Station serve Pimpalvandi.
