Pihani

Pihani is a historical place in Hardoi District of Uttar Pradesh. Pihani is located 27 km north-east of the district headquarters, Hardoi.

It derives its name after the Persian word ‘Pinhani’ meaning ‘place of shelter’. Its forests are thought to be where Humayun took shelter while fleeing after being defeated in the battle against Sher Shah.

Pihani is closely related with Sadarejahan, the minister of Emperor Akbar. His tomb and paintings are the chief attractions here.

Nearest airport is at Lucknow. Hardoi Railway Station serves Pihani.
