The extensive Pichavaram Mangrove Forest is situated 14 km from Chidambaram in Cuddalore District, Tamil Nadu. This region is a unique eco system, and the mangrove trees are planted in a few feet of water. The Pichavaram mangroves are considered to be among the healthiest mangrove occurrence in the world. Rare species of Avicennia and Rhizophara are seen here.
