Phen Wildlife Sanctuary




Phen Wildlife Sanctuary, established in 1983, is situated in Mandla District, Madhya Pradesh. Spread over an area of 110 sq km, it is home to a large variety of flora and fauna. The sanctuary is situated north-east of Kanha National Park and forms a mini satellite core of the reserve.

Major animal species found here include tiger, leopard, wild boar, chital, sambar, Nilgai, jackal and panther. It is also home to a large variety of birds.

The best time to visit the sanctuary is from November to June.

The nearest airport is at Jabalpur. Jabalpur Railway Station and Balaghat Railway Station are the nearest railheads. The sanctuary can be easily accessed from the Balaghat Bus Station.
