Petarbar is located in Bokaro District of Jharkhand and lies on National Highway 23. Bokaro is around 20 km north-east of Petarbar.

Gola (16 km south-west), Tenughat (8 km North), Majhidih (18 km east) and Aiyar (11 km west) are nearby prominent places. Rajrappa Waterfalls and Tenughat Bird Sanctuary are among the nearest points of attractions.
