Periyur



Periyur is the headquarters of a taluk in Madurai District. The town is situated about 20 km west of Kalligudi. Madurai, the district headquarters, is about 40 km north-east of Periyur.

Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple, Tiruparangundram and Pazhamuthircholai are important places worth visiting in the Madurai District.

Nearest airport is at Madurai. Virudhunagar Junction Railway Station serves Periyur.
