Peren




Peren is the administrative headquarters of Peren District in Nagaland. Situated at an altitude of 1,445 m above sea level, it is an important link between Haflong in Assam and Nagaland. Peren is about 84 km from Dimapur.

Peren is the homeland of the Zeliang and Kuki tribes. The place is renowned for the eye-catching Zeliang dance, usually performed in pairs. Major point of attraction is the Rani Gaidiliu's caves and sites, where she stayed underground during her resistance against the British Raj.

The nearest airport is at Dimapur. Dimapur Railway Station is the nearest railhead. By road, Kohima is linked with Dimapur, Imphal, Guwahati and Shillong.
