Perak is a distinct headdress worn by the women belonging to
Ladakh region of
Jammu and Kashmir.
It is made up of a wide leather piece embedded with large turquoise and other ornamental stones. These stones range from 20 to 200 in number. This particular headdress begins below the forehead and extends over the head and ends in the back, below the waist level.
