Lying midway on the
Chopal-Tharoch road, the town of Peontra is in the southern part of
Shimla District. It is around 10 km east of Chopal, 6 km south of Tharoch, 15 km west of Kanda and 18 km north of Kulag. About 110 km north-west is
Shimla, the state capital.
Tons River flows through Peontra. Around the town lie numerous attractions, which include
Temple Complex of Hatkoti,
Jubbal,
Choordhar Peak,
Shikhru Devta Temple,
Chirgaon,
Dodra and Kwar and
Rohru.
Chanshal Pass, at an altitude of 4220 m, is within a short distance.
