Situated on the outskirts of Chennai, Peerkankaranai is a small settlement in Kanchipuram District, Tamil Nadu. Sprawling over an area of about four sq km, Peerkankaranai is surrounded by Madambakkam in the east, Perungalathur in the north-west, Vandalur in the south-west and Tambaram in the north-east. Peerkankaranai Lake is the prime attraction. Nearby tourist destinations include Dhenupureeswarar Temple at Madambakkam, Pichaleeswarar Temple at Panapakkam, Mahabalipuram, Pallavaram, Vandalur Zoo and Adikesava Perumal Temple at Injambakkam. Peerkankaranai can be approached from Vandalur and Tambaram by road. National Highway 45 passes through Peerkankaranai.
