Pazhampati Nathar Temple




Pazhampati Nathar Temple is located on the seashore of the Pandya country at Tiruppunavayil in Pudukkottai District. Occupying an area of three acres, the temple is protected by massive walls. The temple, with its picturesque Rajagopuram dates back to the Pandya period. The Nandi, the Shivalingam, and the vimana crowning the sanctum are huge impressive structures. The main festival held here is the annual Brahmotsavam conducted in the month of Vaikasi (mid May-mid June). The nearest railway station is at Aranthangi, 40 km from the temple.
