This post graduate college is affiliated to the Kannur University. Started functioning from 15th July 1965, the college offers post graduate and under graduate courses in arts and science. Apart from academics, the college gives ample encouragement for extra curricular activities.

The college houses a unit of the senior division of NCC (National Cadet Corps) along with three units of NSS (National Service Scheme). A volleyball sports hostel, granted and financed by the Kerala State Sports Council, is functioning in the college. The football and volleyball teams of this college are considered as the major teams of the district.
