Payippad




Situated on the way to Harippad, Payippad is famous for a boat race festival, ' Payippad boat race,' held during Onam festival. This three-day festival combines water floats, classical and folk art performances. It is celebrated annually on the Prathista day of Harippad Subramanya Temple. On the first two days of this festival, snake boat processions are organized. The last day of this festival is marked by boat racing.

Payippad is about 35 km from Alappuzha, accessible by rail from Harippad (5 km) and by air from Kochi (120 km).
