Pattambi Nercha

Pattambi Nercha, the annual feast of the Pattambi Mosque, is observed in the first week of February. The festival is held in memory of Aloor Valiya Pookunjkoya Thangal, a Muslim saint of Malabar. On the day, a lot of devotees from all over Kerala gather at the mosque.

Around 80 tuskers, which are lined up for the nercha, is a major draw. A pageant replete with traditional musical ensembles such as panchavadyam and thayambaka is taken out in the night. Various art forms are staged on the banks of the Bharathapuzha. The entire town is also brilliantly illuminated during the feast.

The mosque is situated at Pattambi, a fast growing town in Palakkad District. It is about 61 km from Palakkad.
