Patkhanda Jatra




Patkhanda Jatra is a festival celebrated by the local folks of Jarasingha Village in Balangir District , Orissa. It is held in the month of Aswina (October) from 8th to 10th day of the bright fortnight. In this festival a man, locally called ‘Barua’, becomes possessed by the spirit of Goddess Patakhanda. During this time he is believed to bestow miraculous boons on devotees.
