Pathalaganga River

The Pathalaganga River is a tributary of the Krishna and is 2 miles away from the Srisailam temple. This river is considered sacred and devotees visiting the temple take a holy dip in this river. An inscription in the temple indicates that the stone steps found on the bank of the Pathalaganga River were built by kings belonging to the Kondaveedu Reddi Dynasty. The water of this river is also used for performing various rituals within the temple.
