Pasighat, the administrative headquarters of
East Siang District, is a small town located on the banks of the Siang River, in
Arunachal Pradesh. Dubbed as the 'gateway of the state of Arunachal Pradesh', it is the oldest town and a popular hill station in the state. Pasighat is around 250 km north-east of
Itanagar.
Major attraction here is the Daying Ering WildLife Sanctuary, famous for its rich varieties of flora and fauna. Rafting, boating and angling facilities are available. Pasighat also boasts some exciting hikes and trekking trails.
Nearest airport is
Tezu Airport. Other airports nearby are at Dibrugarh and Guwahati in Assam. Helicopters connect Pasighat with Dibrugarh and Itanagar. Murkong Selek (35 km) is the closest railway station. National Highway 52A passes through Pasighat.
