Pariyanampetta Pooram




Pariyanampetta Pooram is a major festival celebrated at the Pariyanampetta Bhagavathy Temple in Kattukulam. The temple is about 40 km from Thrissur. The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Bhagavati.

This annual festival is held for 7 days in the month of February. The main events conducted during the festival are Tholpavakoothu, Kalamezhuthupattu, Pootham, Thira, Karivela, Kaalavela, Kuthiravela, Kathakali and Chakyarkoothu. The most impressive program of the festival is the ceremonial procession of 21 elephants on the final day.
