Paranda Fort

Paranda Fort is situated about 80 km from Osmanabad, in Maharashtra. It is one of the many forts built by the Bahamani kings. This imposing structure is a fine specimen of military architecture and engineering.

Around the fort is a moat, which was always kept filled with water. The fort can be reached by only one passage. There are 26 bastions inside the fort; on some of the bastions there are old guns. Inside the fort is a mosque and a temple known as Narasimha Mandir. Ruins of several buildings can also be sighted here.

Though now in a dilapidated condition due to age and neglect, Paranda Fort still reflects the architectural proficiency and extraordinary craftsmanship of the ancient days.
