Parakkad




Parakkad is a small settlement near Kavasseri, on the banks of River Gayathri, in Malappuram District. Kavasseri is about 5 km west of Alathur, on the Thrissur-Palakkad route.

The place is noted for a Bhagavathi temple named Parakkad Bhagavathi Temple. The presiding deity is Parasakthi (Goddess Bhagavathi) in the form of Varahi. The temple celebrates its annual festival, known as Kavasseri Pooram, in the month of Meenam (March/April).

Palakkad Junction Railway Station is the nearest railhead.
