Parahiya Tribe




Parahiya tribe inhabits areas in the district of Palamu and Hazaribagh of Jharkhand. Some of them are also found in Bihar. They are engaged in the collection and gathering of forest products. They sell fruits, roots, honey, leaves and bamboo in the market.

Parahiya kinship include two sets of relationship viz Dhaiynia (consanguine relationship) members as Hill Kutum. Marriages always take place out side Dhaiynia. These superstitious people worship trees, earth, rivers and stones.
