Situated at the confluence of
Kali and Saryu rivers, Pancheshwar forms the borders with Nepal. It is about 40 km from
Lohaghat, in
Champawat District, in
Uttaranchal.
Pancheshwar is famous for the
Chaumu Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is believed that a dip at the confluence of the rivers is very sacred. Thousands of people from far and near visit this place every year. The Jaat (pilgrimage) of Chaumu comes down from village Sail, 5 km above the temple. Chaumu Jaat of this region has a unique way of cultural expression.
Pulla (5 km), Chamdeval (8 km) and Rasul (12 km) are the neighbouring places of tourist interest.
Pancheshwar is well connected by road to all the major towns of the region.
Tanakpur Railway Station is the nearest railhead (115 km).
