Panamkurussikavu Temple




Panamkurussikavu Temple is located at Mannarkkad taluk in Palakkad District. The presiding deity of the temple is Goddess Bhagavati.

Folklore has it that the goddess under a huge Palmera tree was to be kept sacred inside a temple when the tree was cut down. For this, a temple was constructed which was named as Panamuruchi temple. Later on, the temple became commonly known as Panamkurussi temple.

The famous offering of the Panamkurussi temple is 'Kalampattu'. The temple celebrates the 'Chovvaya' festival on two Tuesdays after 12th Thulam month (October-November). The annual festival is the Pooram that starts on Makayiram asterism in the Malayalam month of Meenam (March-April) and lasts for seven days.

The temple can be approached from Karinkallathani junction on the PalakkadKozhikode route. The nearest railhead is Palakkad Railway Station, about 55 km.
