Palvanna Nathar Temple




Palvanna Nathar Temple is a famous temple situated at Tiruvanmiyur, Chennai District. Tiruvanmiyur is about three miles south of Mylapore. Dedicated to Palvana Nathar (Lord Shiva), the temple also has separate shrines for Goddesses Periyanayaki and Tripurasundari. The temple holds a teertham which is said to have been built by Devas. The sacred trees of the temple are Vanni and Vilva trees. Saints Appar, Arunairinathar and Sambandar have sung in this temple. The Tiruvathirai dance festival is the main festival is celebrated here. Another festival of importance is the Panguni Uttram.
