Palakkunnu Sree Bhagavathy Temple Bharani Maholsavam

Palakkunnu Sree Bhagavathy Temple Bharani Maholsavam is the annual festival celebrated at the Bhagavathy Kshetram, one of the famous temples of the Thiyya community, of Palakkunnu. The temple lies 1 km north of Trikkannad on the Kasargod- Kanhangad road.

The festivities are held during the Bharani asterism that falls in the month of March every year. The festival starts on the next day of the Arattu festival of Trikkannad temple.

The deities of the nearby temples are taken to the temple in a procession (Kazhcha) during the festival time. After the offerings and the procession, there is a splendid display of fireworks. The ceremonies end with the Auirathiri Ulsavam. A large number of people in and around the district and neighboring states attend this colorful function.

Kottikkulam Railway Station is the nearest railhead. There are frequent buses running between Kasargod and Trikkannad.
