Pakalkuri




Pakalkuri is a small hamlet in Thiruvananthapuram District of Kerala. It is about 55 km north of Thiruvananthapuram and about 8 km from Paripally. Pakalkuri is renowned by the presence of Kalabharati Kathakali Kendra and M. K. K Nair Samskarika Kendra.

Pakalkuri is greatly associated with the Ramayana, and the Mahadevar Temple on the banks of the Ithikkara River is revered with the deity of Bharat. Also, Pakalkuri was formerly known as Bharatha-kuri. Baliyam Kunnu, a hill described in the Ramayana is situated near the temple. Velinalloor Sree Rama Swamy temple is only 3 km from here.

Nearby major places are Oyoor, Velinalloor, Pallikkal and Madavoor. The nearest airport is Trivandrum International Airport and the nearest railhead is Varkala Railway Station.
