Oyoor Keezhuttu Sree Durga Devi Temple




Keezhuttu Sree Durga Devi Temple is a highly respected shrine situated at Oyoor village in Kollam District. It has mythological relation with the Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple of Madurai. Oyoor is 18 km from Kottarakara and 25 km east of Kollam.

Goddess Durga is the main deity. Lord Ganesh and Shasta are also worshiped. A Kavu devoted to Lord Nagaraja is located in the temple premises.

Beyond being a pilgrim center, the temple is a place of scenic beauty for travelers. It stands on a stonework plinth on the side of a hillock, surrounded by rivulets and paddy fields.

The annual festival of the temple falls in the month of Meenam (March-April). Janmashtami, Mahashivaratri and Navratri are celebrated in a grand manner.

Velinalloor Sree Rama Swamy Temple, Peykavu, Mathiyodu Madan Kavu, Kaithakkal Devi Temple and Kottarakara Ganapathi Temple are the nearby seats of worship.
