Established in 1918, Osmania University Library is one of the oldest libraries in Hyderabad. Most of the books, journals and mimeographed documents found here are published by the UN and its agencies. The library is also inclusive of verbatim debates of the General Assembly and the Security Council. A UNESCO Information Center functions within the library.

The collection includes government and UN documents. Budget papers and census and statistical reports are among the government papers. A specialty is the books from the personal collections of stalwarts such as Ali Yawar Jung. The manuscript section has palm-leaf manuscripts, illustrations, calligraphy and scripts of rare variety. Besides, there is a separate section known as Competitive Examinations Reference Library.
