Oncophyta, a registered non-profit organization, is situated at Palkalainagar East in Madurai, Tamil Nadu. It was founded by Prof. G. Shanmugam, a retired professor of biochemistry, in the year 1997. The center specializes in the research and development of cancer treatment drugs from Indian medicinal plants. It conducts short term training courses in the areas of clinical biochemistry, microbiology, and biotechnology at post BS and post MS levels. The center conducts seminars on cancer awareness and early detection, produces publications and organizes camps in collaboration with other non-profit organizations.
