Old Fort




Old Fort is a 14th century fort situated at Surat, in Gujarat. It is one of the major landmarks in the city. This majestic structure was built by Muhammad bin Tughlaq to fortify the defense against the Bhils. It was invaded twice by Chhatrapati Shivaji. Now the Old Fort houses several government offices.

Surat Railway Station, on the Mumbai-Delhi-Ahmedabad broad gauge line, is the nearest railhead.
