Nunihat is located in the northern part of Dumka District near Lachmipur. It is a small town and is bounded by Sareya (15 km west), Ramgarh (15 km west) and Jarmundi (13 km south). Dumka, the district headquarters, is around 35 km to the south. Lagwa hill at Nonihat is worth visiting.
Gaya Airport and Patna Airport serve the town and the nearest rail junction is Jasidih Junction Railway Station.
