Nira




Nira, named after the river on the banks of which it is located, is a small settlement on the southern border of Pune District, which it shares with Satara District. The hamlet lies on the State Highway 36, about 20 km south of Jejuri and 65 km south-east of Pune - the district headquarters. Andori is the nearest settlement on the other side of the border, in Satara District.

A unit of the Pune division of the Agriculture Produce Market Committee is located at Nira.The pilgrim center of Jejuri, Baneshwar Temple and Bhatghar Dam (Llyod Dam) are some places of tourist interest nearby. The historic sites in and around Pune are locations to savor the bygone eras.

Pune Lohegaon Airport serves Nira. Nira Railway Station is on the Pune – Satara rail line of Central Railways.
