Ngada Festival

Ngada Festival is a major festival celebrated by the Rengmas Tribe in Nagaland. It is held for eight days in the end of November just after the harvest. It is the festival of thanksgiving, merrymaking and rejoicing and marks the end of the year. On the fifth day of the festival, the Ngada – Rengma dance is performed with much fervor. The villages dress up in traditional costumes and go dancing round the village.

A popular belief among the ancient Rengmas is that the spirit of the death visits their graves and the homes of their relatives once every year, mainly during this festival.
